Year 11 Students Prepare for Life in Sixth Form and Beyond

Following on from a very successful Sixth Form Open Evening, Tuesday, 15 October, was another busy day in the Sixth Form Centre. Year 11 students participated in a series of taster lessons, designed to give them an insight into the A-level and CTEC subjects on offer. With the widest range of subject choices across the Foundation, The Kingsley Sixth Form offers students a number of different flight paths, including the Inspiration pathway (three A-levels) and Discovery pathway (which adds the Extended Project Qualification), our Vocational pathway made up of CTEC qualifications, or a Blended pathway.

The interactive taster sessions, led by our enthusiastic Sixth Form staff, gave students the chance to get hands-on with the subjects and ask questions, helping them begin to make informed decisions about their post-16 education. Whether that’s pursuing a degree at a UK-based or a global university, or an apprenticeship, Kingsley’s Future-focused education ensures students are empowered to make the best decisions for their next steps.

In the afternoon, attention turned towards the more immediate future, as the students participated in revision and study skills workshops. These sessions, aimed at preparing students for their upcoming Maths iGCSE and mock exams, will be invaluable as they work towards achieving their academic goals in the months ahead.

On Wednesday, their learning extended beyond the classroom with an exciting trip to Birmingham, where students participated in a variety of teambuilding activities. The day featured a challenging escape room experience and a treetop golfing adventure, both of which encouraged students to work on their logic, reasoning, creativity and team-working skills. Activities such as these are a key component of ‘The Kingsley Way’, which values Positive and Discovery Education, helping students grow into well-rounded individuals ready to tackle life’s challenges.

The Kingsley Sixth Form provides much more than an academic education. Students are nurtured in a close-knit community, benefiting from coaching, mentoring and collaboration with peers and staff, including those in our wider Foundation family. As we continue to guide our students towards academic success and personal growth, our commitment to developing well-equipped, forward-thinking young adults remains strong. It was wonderful to see our Year 11 students taking full advantage of these opportunities, as they prepare to embark on the next stage of their educational journey.
