On Wednesday and Friday our EYFS and Key Stage 1 pupils treated us to fabulous performances of ‘The Inn Crowd’. The play featured some extremely catchy songs, many of which the cast have been singing on their way around the school for several weeks in the run up to the performance.
On Wednesday the audience was made up of our Key Stage 2 children and staff, and we were especially pleased to see so many children from Year 7 and 8 who had chosen to give up their lunch break in order to come and cheer the younger children on.
The storyline was fairly traditional in the main, although I am not sure how many stable animals broke into song in the original version! Almost all of the children chose to speak a line, with some of the Year 1 and 2 children having some quite lengthy speeches to remember. The children performed with great enjoyment and confidence, and we had to remind ourselves that some of the cast have only just turned three years old.
There were so many highlights, from the joyful, whole cast finale of Feliz Navidad, complete with some exuberant dance moves, to a stellar performance from our newest addition who joined Little Aviators from Turkey at half term. He has somehow learned to sing in English and develop a serious amount of stage presence, in just a few weeks!
Mary and Joseph were adorable and gently led a slightly shy donkey through the proceedings, and I have to mention our soloists – the Innkeeper and his wife, and our Year 2 angel who were completely unfazed by the microphone and sang beautifully.
All in all, each and every member of the cast has every right to feel extremely proud of themselves, and many congratulations to our Early Years and Pre-Prep staff team who conjured up such a festive treat for us all.
