Book fairs, favourite reads and a competition highlight a week of literary excitement!
Kingsley students and staff enjoyed a fantastic ‘Reading for Pleasure’ week. LRC Assistant Ms Tudway organised Scholastic book fairs in both the Prep and Senior Schools. During their English lessons, all year groups were invited to browse the selection and purchase new books. With hundreds of exciting titles to flick through covering many different genres, there was something for everyone.
Students also read during form time, and everybody talked about their favourite books in class – even subject teachers shared their favourite reads. English Teacher Ms Nelson teamed up with Year 9 students to compile a list of good books, with a particular focus on what we might read over the summer holidays. During assembly, they shared over 50 student-approved recommendations for various age groups via an engaging video.
Finally, a competition was organised to encourage students and staff to share their favourite reads. They were asked to enthusiastically summarise why they love a particular book or series and who they would recommend it to. Entries are being reviewed and the most engaging will be rewarded with a free book!
