We work hard to build emotional resilience and courage, preparing Sixth Formers for the responsibilities and freedoms of adult life. In addition to the excellent peer support network that exists at Kingsley, our dedicated team of staff provide outstanding pastoral care. As you would expect from a smaller Sixth Form setting, support in lessons is also excellent, with superb student-staff ratios.
PSHE
As part of our PSHE and enrichment programmes, external coaches deliver sessions on topics such as ‘dressing for success’, ‘body language’, and ‘CV writing’.
VERTICAL TUTOR GROUPS
Tutor groups are vertical in the Sixth Form, encouraging Year 12 and 13 students to get to know one another. We are very proud to see our more experienced Sixth Formers supporting newer students.
LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMME
Our Life Skills Programme teaches students about financial management, car maintenance, cooking on a budget, and more.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
Students spend two lessons per week with their Form Tutors, setting goals, reviewing progress, engaging in wellbeing activities, and sharing any problems or concerns they may have. Our ‘open door’ staff room policy further strengthens relationships with staff; the door is ALWAYS open and students know they can call in at any point during the school day.
"Students are extremely self-aware and self-confident, with a mature understanding of how they can improve their work as well as the need to develop their independence."Independent School Inspectorate 2023
SIXTH FORM LEADERSHIP
As a Round Square school, ‘leadership’ is one of the six fundamental ideals that inspire and encourage our community. Sixth Form students learn that good leaders are understanding, empathetic, kind, and driven by a desire to help others to improve and succeed.
Each year, we appoint a Sixth Form Leadership Team, which includes two Heads of School and two Deputies. Other leadership roles vary depending on the cohort and their interests. For example, we may appoint a Marketing and PR Prefect, or an Environmental Prefect.
Students apply for their roles and are interviewed by the Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form. Shortlisted Head of School candidates also deliver a speech on a subject of their choice during assembly.
Joining the Sixth Form Leadership Team is a huge accolade and a chance to get involved in many aspects of school life, from supporting younger students and fundraising for the school charities to acting as ambassadors at open days and speaking at prize giving and other events. Our Heads of School attend the Heads of School Conference each year – a fantastic opportunity to meet and share experiences with students from independent schools across the country.
