On Monday, 23rd September, we celebrated a momentous occasion – Kingsley’s 140th birthday. To mark this special day, students and staff from across the Prep School, Senior School, and Sixth Form embraced the spirit of the occasion by dressing in attire from different decades, spanning the school’s rich history from the late 1800s to the present day. The day began with an inspiring assembly led by our Headteacher, Dr Sarah Howling, who reflected on the school’s wonderful legacy and bright future.
During the morning break, the celebrations continued with a delightful treat – beautifully decorated birthday cupcakes served in the dining room. Throughout the day the sense of community and shared pride was palpable, as students and staff took the opportunity to share personal reflections on what Kingsley means to them.
Lily, our Head Pupil in the Prep School, captured the sentiment perfectly, stating: “Kingsley is such a magical place to learn – every day is fun and exciting!”
This celebration of Kingsley’s past, present, and future was a joyful reminder of the unique and cherished place the school holds in the hearts of all who are part of its story.
Dr Sarah Howling who commented: “As we celebrate Kingsley’s 140th anniversary, we honour the dreams and vision that built our school and look forward with excitement to the future. The legacy we celebrate today is still being written—by each of us, every day. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, ‘The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.’ Together, we will continue to dream, to believe, and to create a future filled with opportunity, kindness, and excellence. We have so much to celebrate—and even more to build.
Happy Birthday, Kingsley! Here’s to the next 140 years and beyond.”
This week marks the start of a year full of celebrations, with lots more exciting things to come.
