On Thursday, 20 March, Amelie performed alongside professional musicians and peers from The Kingsley School and Warwick School and professional musicians during ‘Elements’ at Warwick Hall. This truly unique opportunity was afforded as part of Warwick Schools Foundation’s ongoing partnership with Orchestra of the Swan.
The concert presented the four classical elements in musical form, with the Swan orchestra performing an array of musical pieces – including Jean-Féry Rebel’s ‘Chaos’, Manuel de Falla’s ‘Ritual Fire Dance’, and Debussy’s ‘La Mer’.
We were delighted to present a world-premiere performance of ‘Air’, a newly-commissioned piece from jazz musicians David Gordon (composer/piano) and Tim Whitehead (saxophone), which they performed alongside some of the Foundation’s top musicians.
All of the students excelled; they fit in seamlessly on stage alongside the professional musicians, which is testament to the quality of performance that they produced on the night. The Swan orchestra once again performed excellently, as they do each time they perform.
Many congratulations to Amelie for her magnificent performance on the flute.
We now look ahead to ‘Interstellar – the Swan’s final concert of the season at Warwick Hall – on Thursday, 19 June. Featuring acclaimed actor Anton Lesser and the intertwining of narration and musical pieces, you won’t want to miss it.
