Kingsley Art Competition Winner Announced!

Head of Art Mr Lax was thrilled to announce the winners of our annual Art Competition during a special assembly.

This year’s theme, ‘Celebration,’ was particularly fitting as the school celebrates its 140th birthday, providing students with the opportunity to express their creativity and celebrate all that makes our school, and the Kingsley community, so special. The competition drew an impressive number of entries from students of all ages, showcasing incredible talent and diverse interpretations of the theme. From vibrant depictions of joy and happiness to thoughtful reflections on personal milestones, the resulting display of art was a testament to students’ creativity, effort and passion.

As in previous years, the competition winners were selected by staff, who had the great pleasure of reviewing all of the entries and voting for their favourites in each category. In making their choices, they were encouraged to consider the level of effort, creativity and technical skill demonstrated in each submission.

Before announcing the winners, Mr Lax spoke about the importance of appreciating and embracing one’s creative journey and celebrating personal growth. He reminded students that success is not always about comparison, but about valuing individual progress and enjoying the process. Sharing a personal story from his childhood, he recalled learning to play a musical instrument and how, in his pursuit of perfection, he overlooked his own accomplishments and eventually gave up. His story served as a powerful reminder that the journey itself is just as meaningful as the final outcome.

Dr Howling presented the winners with certificates and prizes (art materials to further fuel their creativity and inspire future projects!). Congratulations to Jeevan (Little Aviators), Esme (Y2), Eve (Y3), Sophia (Y6), Zoya (Y7), Emily (Y8) and Maria (Y9), and a special mention to Faye (Y8), who was the overall prize winner.

Reflecting on the Art Competition, Dr Howling commented: “This whole-school celebration of art has not only highlighted the exceptional talent of our students, but also the importance of valuing each individual’s contributions. As Kingsley continues to celebrate its 140th birthday, the spirit of creativity, appreciation and celebration remains at the heart of our school community.
