As we celebrate our school’s 140th birthday, we are excited to launch the 140 Acts of Kindness project. This initiative will inspire every member of our school community—students, staff, and parents—to carry out small and big acts of kindness, creating positive ripples throughout our community. In line with The Kingsley Way, our Acts of Kindness project highlights the power of kindness in fostering a compassionate, supportive environment, helping us strengthen the “Kingsley Kind” ethos we all hold dear.
The Power of Kindness in Community Wellbeing
Wellbeing is nurtured in an environment where kindness and mutual support are prioritised. With 140 Acts of Kindness, we’re offering a meaningful way to reinforce our commitment to each other’s wellbeing. From small gestures, like helping a friend with homework, to larger acts, like volunteering for a community cause, each act is a reminder of the strength we find in looking out for each other. As we collectively aim to reach 140 acts: 136 individual acts for each of us, and 4 whole school community acts, we aim to demonstrate how kindness binds us together and deepens our shared sense of belonging.
The Kingsley Way in Action
We Act with Kindness
The 140 Acts of Kindness project is a direct embodiment of our commitment to acting with kindness. Each act is an opportunity to encourage contributions, celebrate individuality, and show compassion. Through these acts, we continue to treat each other with respect, uplifting those around us while inspiring others to join in, making our community a warmer, more supportive place.
We Aim for Excellence
The drive for excellence applies not only to academic and personal achievements but also to our kindness. By actively participating in the Acts of Kindness project, we aim to set a high standard in how we treat one another and contribute to our community. When we each take responsibility for small acts of kindness, we build a community culture where excellence in character is just as valued as excellence in other pursuits.
We Create Opportunity
The Acts of Kindness project offers countless opportunities to bring kindness into everyday life. By seeing possibilities to help and support others, we embrace the chance to grow in empathy and compassion. This project encourages everyone to be courageous, to think creatively about how they can make a positive impact, and to see each act of kindness as an adventure in fostering wellbeing.
We Build Community
Kindness is the cornerstone of a strong, unified community. Our 140 Acts of Kindness project is designed to bring people together, creating lasting bonds and a stronger sense of pride and belonging. Every act is a testament to our shared commitment to building a school where relationships are central, and where everyone has a part in promoting a compassionate, inclusive environment.
Recognising and Celebrating Our Acts of Kindness
Students are learning about the project this week so we can begin in earnest on our return to school in January. This does not mean, however, that kindness is on hold until then and we are sharing ways in which we can be ‘Christmas kind’ during the break. Students will be generating ideas for their individual acts of kindness and populating their kindness calendars during form times.
We will celebrate each act of kindness, recognising the positive influence it has on our community. This acknowledgment allows us to celebrate the individual and collective strengths that make our community unique. Every contribution brings us closer to our goal, creating a shared sense of accomplishment and pride in reaching this milestone together.
This year, as we celebrate our school’s 140th anniversary, the 140 Acts of Kindness project offers a chance for each of us to contribute to a legacy of compassion and connection. Guided by The Kingsley Way, we’re building a future grounded in kindness, respect, and mutual care, ensuring our community remains a place where everyone is valued and supported. Together, we can make a difference, one act of kindness at a time.
